Public Safety
Mike Ray knows that community policing is essential to keeping our neighborhoods safe. He has worked with City Council and the Administration to fund
the Community Police program and Community Initiative to Reduce Violence, resulting in a 22% reduction in violent crimes in 2016.
Blight
Mike Ray has worked with City Council and the Administration to create the Sanitation Enterprise Fund to
address the City’s demolition problems, using targeted code enforcement to improve property condition and appearance.
Mike has also worked with the Mahoning Valley Land Bank and the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation on
strategic demolitions, an example of his ability to work across multiple departments and groups. Due to this effort,
more than 500 houses were targeted for demolition across the city in 2017.

Economic Development
Mike Ray has worked with the City Administration to secure millions of dollars of new investments to the City, creating hundreds of new jobs. Mike
regularly meets with business leaders to encourage dialogue and inform them of programs and resources available.
